Summary:

Session 1 of 2. As caregivers it is extremely important to understand the prevalence of stress and trauma in the lives of children and families. Understanding the impact of trauma on the children in your care and how to incorporate effective strategies to help children heal will be the focus of this two-part series on Trauma Informed Care. In the first workshop, entitled Trauma 101, child care providers will get an overview of trauma and its effect on children.

Participants will leave with an understanding of how traumatic experiences affect brain development and memory and the relationship between a child’s experience of trauma and his/her behavior and responses.

Child Care Providers must attend Trauma 101 in order to attend second session of the series (Self Care) on June 26th.
